Monkey Trials
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Labels: Creation, evolution 2 commentsI am sure everyone is familiar with the monkey trials of the 1920s. The battle between teaching the Genesis account of creation and evolution. One of the key questions was about Cain's wife. The question was trying to trap to elude to incest. The question was along the lines of where Cain's wife came from if Adam and Eve were the only humans on the earth? My question to you is what would be your answer if you were on the witness stand?
Of course incest occurred back then. The Genesis account is impossible without incest.
Incest wasn't prohibited, though, until much later, so I don't see the big deal.
And I must not be familiar enough with the monkey trials, because I fail to see how the question proves or disproves evolution. What was the questioner trying to establish here?
Furthermore, the myriad problems we face today with our species are fairly consistent with incest if we started from a point as advanced as Genesis claims. We see problems with incest relative to the current genome that are as bad as going from 1,000+ year lifespans down to an average of 30-75 years depending on the civilization.
